Half And Half By Real Milk Paint

Half and Half by Real Milk Paint is a 1:1 mixture of tung oil and solvent, a ready-to-use, penetrating, and easy-to-apply finish that is water resistant, flexible, durable, and beautiful. Use Half and Half on cutting boards (Tung oil is FDA approved for Food contact), wooden utensils, work benches, flooring, decks, outdoor furniture (or indoor), even brick, or concrete.

Unlike the brain melting solvents found in many finishes, Half and Half is non toxic and smells wonderful. Real Milk Paint mixes up two colors of Half and Half: Half and Half which made from Pure Tung Oil, and Dark Half which is made using – yep, you guessed it – Dark Tung oil, which contains a resinous hydrocarbon to give darker finish, that looks great open-pore woods like oak.

Note: Our stock includes both Half and Half made with Citrus Solvent and Half and Half made with Pine Oil (made because of shortages and price increases for citrus solvent). If you have a preference for a particular solvent, please indicate your preference in the notes on your order. Real Milk Paint uses the same stock numbers and codes for both types of Half and Half, so it is not viable for us to keep inventory records separately, but we will honor requests whenever possible.

Compared to Pure Tung Oil and Dark Tung Oil, Half and Half will penetrate dense surfaces more easily, and has a slightly lower viscosity. Tung Oil, and Half and Half both give the same beautiful durable matte finish. We’ve found that the thinner viscosity of Half and Half makes even application on complex shapes a little easier. The added solvent also helps the oil to dry more quickly.

Half and Half is Flammable: Keep containers tightly closed away from extreme temperature changes and open flames. As with all oils, rags, steel wool or waste soaked with oil, may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, place the oil soaked material in a sealed water-filled metal container or hang outside separately to dry.
