Many adult carvers want to pass along their love of carving to a child, and Carving for Kids is a very helpful guide. Its goal is to encourage and teach a child – with appropriate safety and adult supervision – to develop the foundational skill of developing solid blocks of wood into shapes, figures and finally woodcraft.

The book includes graded projects for different ages and abilities, including a spoon; several animals (ladybug, duck and bear), a nameplate, a barrette, and a face, and are well suited to building the skills it takes to work with wood and woodcarving tools.
